No.180 Ah Montenrupa no yowafukete

Gintaro Shirota・Masayasu Ito(1952)

Almost 2 months have passed since I updated this blog last time. It's mainly because I've been too much involved in adapting myself to my new job.

I'm so spellbound by this song that I cannot finish singing this song every time. I'll tell you the details later.

The picture below is the Kawatsu-sakura in Shizuoka prefecture, bursting into bloom one months before the ordinary cherry blossoms. I've visited there few days before with my wife.

苏越(1987年)

Happy New Year !!

It's been a long time since I uploaded last. I've been very busy every day since I got the new job at the same Narita Airport soon after retiring the former comapany.

This is a world famous Chinese song composed when the China-Vietnam War broke out in 1979. I was very much impressed by a Caucasian lady singing this song in Chinese at Karaoke bar in Hong Kong. I felt small for not being able to speak Chinese at all especially when I saw her singing this song in Chinese.

Now I'd like to challenge this song by MIDI instead of singing.

Please listen to this music by YouTube.

Hideaki Tokunaga (1986)

I'll challenge to Jazz music for the first time here except No.11 'Fly me to the moon' in Hall No.2 with which I'm not satisfied at all.

This is the jazzy version of the same song of No.176 'Rainy blue'.

The picture below is also one scene from the American SF movie, a huge UFO in the sky. I don't remember the title.

No.175 Please Mr. Postman

The Marvelettes (1961)

I've thought the origin of this song was The Beatles, but it wasn't. According to the Wikipedia it was the hit song of American Vocal group 'The Marvelettes' in 1961, and then covered by Beatles in 1963, by Carpenters in 1964.

I'm modeling after the Carpenters' version because more easy to pick up each harmony than in the beatles version.

The picture below is one scene from The Deep Impact again.

Reqested by Fan-san again, the hit song by Koji Taira in 1972. As this sounds like the same category song as the previous song 'Only you', I assigned main melody to viola again.

No.168 Czardash

Vittorio Monti (1863〜1922)

I'll challenge to "Czardash" the origin of which, Wikipedia says, can be traced back to the 18th century Hungarian verbunkos, used as a recruiting dance by the Hungarian army.

No.163 Csikos post

Hermann Necke(1850-1912)

I played this world famous ’Csikos post', well known as the theme song of sports day in Japan.

But Wikipedia says almost nobody knows this song in the world except Japan. Also says now it is gradually spreading over the world as the theme song of PC game made in Japan.

No.162 Too many rules

Connie Francis (1961)

I'm challenging to one of the most popular American pops in 1960's, "Too Many Rules". Many Japanese singers covered this song, and I like the one covered by Yukari Ito best of all.

I used flute for the main melody as usual, and collaborated with viola and piano at the climax.

The elver lasting song like this has the simple melody and simple chords.

No.161 Yuyakeno Uta

Koji Makaino(1989)

Ballade song by Masahiko Kondo which had been popular song in south asian countries, not in Japan.

Started introduction with unison of two steel guitars, vocal part by flute accompanied softly by these guitars, one of which plays slow stroke in the right, the other arpeggio in the left.

I used harmonica for the fist time at the end of this song, but it was not so successful to create that melancholic sound of real harmonica.

The picture below is the cherry trees in full bloom at the path leading the the tennis court I play with my colleagues recently.
